From My Journal: Returning to the Void
Sep 15, 2025
Yesterday, when I sat down to meditate, I expected quiet to wash over me, but instead I felt the restless tug of a hundred threads pulling me in opposite directions. Two teenagers asking for my attention, cats winding between my legs, the endless hum of a business with emails unanswered, ads half-written, funnels in motion, dinner waiting to be made, dishes piling in the sink, a father in the hospital, and the silent, invisible weight of being the one who holds it all together.
Even in meditation, my mind was relentless—reaching forward into the vision of what I am creating, clinging to the desires I want to manifest, planning and executing, calibrating and recalibrating, holding the future in my hands before it had even arrived. The demands stacked upon demands until I felt utterly drained, as though life had hollowed me out while still expecting me to keep giving.
And then, in the thick of all that exhaustion, something unexpected happened. I saw it— a spinning nebula suspended against the construction paper blue of space— and in an instant, it pulled me in.
The Void.
How had I forgotten this place? I teach this practice, I guide others here, and yet in the swirl of responsibility, even I had let it slip from memory.
The moment I entered, it was as if the weight of the world slid from my shoulders and dissolved into nothingness. Titles, roles, and expectations—mother, business owner, creator, caretaker—fell away like old garments I no longer needed to wear. The lists, the visions, the striving, the proving… all of it emptied out until only stillness remained.
Not silence. Not forced positivity. Just the pure, exquisite relief of no time, no space, no need to be anything at all.
I didn’t create.
I didn’t manifest.
I didn’t reach for answers.
I simply allowed myself to drink in the beauty of nothing.
And it was enough.
Sometimes what saves us is not pushing harder or holding tighter. It’s remembering the forgotten pleasure of the Void.
✨ If your heart feels heavy with demands, if your mind will not stop spinning, I want to invite you to taste this same relief. I recorded a guided meditation to help you step into the Void and remember what I remembered yesterday.

For those of you practicing the Method of Stillness, may this be your reminder: the Void is not only the beginning of creation. It is the sanctuary where we remember we were never meant to carry it all.
